Leanda Clarke

Practitioner

Kings Hill Osteopath, Leanda Clarke decided to train as an osteopath as she knew her time as a jockey was limited. She has been fortunate enough to call her work in the horse racing industry her passion for 15 years and had a successful career as an amateur jockey travelling all around the country. She was lucky enough to have 55 winners during her career and had some great rides on professional courses, a few favourites being Cheltenham, Aintree, Kempton and Exeter. The highlight of her career was riding in the fox hunters race at the Cheltenham Festival for trainer Rebecca Curtis and the prestigious owner Mr JP McManus. Luckily, following her retirement as a jockey she found a replacement career that she could immerse herself in, with equal amounts of enjoyment and commitment. Leanda has enjoyed helping patients benefit from sports massage alongside osteopathy enabling her to provide patients with good quality multi-disciplinary care.

We have a huge tool box to work with when it comes to resolving a problem, whether its a baby suffering from colic or reflux, a sports person with an injury or general aches and pains from daily living, we are here to help. I will always take the time to listen to my patients and work alongside them and their body to find the best solution to resolve the problem”.

“I love treating babies, especially as I have a daughter of my own born in May 2021, she is my absolute world and anything I can do to make her feel more comfortable is such a relief. I can appreciate all the trials and tribulations mothers go through just to keep their little one’s safe, so helping a baby feel more comfortable and thereby helping the mother feel at ease fills me with joy. Additionally, I really enjoy treating sportspeople, particularly horse riders as I feel I can relate to any concerns they might have about returning to their sport as quickly as possible. Enabling individuals to return to their peak fitness and performing at their best again is very rewarding and enjoyable”.

Leanda is friendly and approachable. She goes above and beyond to make sure her patients feel comfortable and involved during the examination and treatment process. She is a good listener and will always consider her patients’ expectations and concerns, providing an individual approach towards their management and journey back to optimal health.

Outside of work, Leanda likes to spend time with her family and walk her two dogs Ruby (Jack Russell terrier) and Oscar (Labrador) in the countryside.  She enjoys riding race horses out at a local racing yard near where she lives and plays netball once a week. She also likes eating out, reading crime novels and watching films (especially Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings and all Disney!).
